Dr. Binta Masani is an educator and consultant who has over 25 years of experience working in adult education. Dr. Masani holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Adult Education Leadership with expertise in employee training and development, curriculum design, program planning and education management. As highly trained instructor, Dr. Masani has taught in traditional and virtual classrooms with diverse student populations from corporate, government and community settings in the United States, Europe, Central America and the Caribbean.
After a 30-year career with the federal government as an instructor, program manager, human resources specialist, and education consultant, Dr. Masani started Masani Consulting in 2006 and became a Georgia Limited Liability Company (LLC) in 2014. Through Masani Consulting, LLC, Dr. Masani provides educational services that assist individuals, small and mid-size businesses, profit/non-profit organizations, community-based learning centers and education practitioners with developing learning programs that prepare diverse groups of adult learners to compete in today’s global workplace.
Together with the Prevention Research Insitute's PRIME For Life (PFL) risk-reduction program, Dr Masani is committed to teaching students effective strategies for reducing problem outcomes caused by high-risk alcohol/drug choices. Prime For Life recognized Dr. Masani's commitment to education with the Hudson Bell Pioneer Award for Excellence in 2012.
As a researcher and scholar, Dr. Masani is trained in intergenerational knowledge transmission, narrative learning, transformational learning and other non-traditional adult learning theories and practices. In the academic community, Dr. Masani is recognized for her work with women in transition and research with Jamaican female basket weavers.
In 2006, Dr. Masani diversified her career as an educator and created a 20-minute motivational film entitled Our Voices Speak©, which profiles the life experiences of African-American and Jamaican women, ages 16 to 96 who overcame adversity through the power of loving, living and learning.
In keeping with her philosophy of life-long learning, Dr. Masani completed her Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Georgia State University's School of Applied Linguistics in 2016 and Graduate Certificate in International Education at Georgia State University's College of Education in 2019. Dr. Masani is an active member of Toastmasters International. What's next? Dr. Masani is writing her first book and she plans to do more teaching in the U.S. and overseas.
